About Trip

Mardi Himal Trekking is a short trek that is suitable for all age group and fitness level. Mardi Himal Region offers majestic views of Annapurna Mountain, Mardi Mountain and Fishtail Mountain. The trail passes through green forests rich in Himalayan wildlife including National bird of Nepal Lophophorus and wild beasts.

At Alaya Holidays, we follow the same route that is used by locals for their daily use. We will pass through Yak herder’s traditional huts and visit local villages to understand the lifestyle of these friendly locals. Mardi Himal Trekking is a relatively new trek route in Annapurna region, beginning from remote and least crowded, where one can experience authentic lifestyle of this region. Few lodges are available for accommodation in the area, that provide very basic services and yet it offers experience of some of the best trekking routes, far from commercial trekking routes of Annapurna. Mardi Himal Base Camp is located under the Fishtail Peak. Spring (March to April) is the best season for Mardi Himal Trek to witness blooming rhododendron forest in its full glory. Visit to Upper view point which is located above Mardi Himal Base Camp will reward us with incredible views of Annapurna Range. Enjoy the taste of unspoiled culture and villages.

You can buy a SIM card on site. This prepaid local card is available at Ncell which you can easily find anywhere in Kathmandu. To do this, you must fill out a form, with a copy of your passport, visa, and a photo ID! But for about 100-150 Rs, you are assigned a local phone number, to which must be added a credit of communication. Ncell offers different formulas with or without the Internet that also passes in the mountains! Throughout your trek, you can recharge your cell phones. You can also use database internet which gives faster internet access when you are out of the Wi-Fi zone.

ELECTRICITY
You will need a power adapter/converter. The socket works with two plugins. Battery-powered devices are also recommended.

CLIMATE
Our trek season runs from mid-September to May. From the beginning of September, the rain of the monsoon decreased. From mid-October to December, the climate is generally stable, with warm and pleasant days and cold, clear nights. The temperature can reach 25 ° C during the day at low altitude and at night the mercury will drop to 0. Above 3000 meters, the temperature can fall to -10 ° C at night.
Climatic conditions are never predictable, but there is a well-established pattern. Temperatures of day and night at low altitude vary according to the season, but the night at high altitude is cold, no matter the season. Modern equipment and appropriate clothing will keep you warm.

A Hidden Gem in the Annapurna Range

The Mardi Himal trek was a real hidden gem in the Annapurna region. While less crowded than some of the more famous treks, it offered incredible mountain vistas, diverse ecosystems, and a truly immersive cultural experience. The gradual ascent made the elevation gain manageable, and the teahouses provided comfortable lodging along the way. Reaching the upper viewpoint and seeing the Annapurna massif in all its glory at sunrise was a moment I'll never forget. I'd highly recommend this trek to any adventurous trekker looking to explore a lesser-known corner of the Himalayas.

    Challenging Yet Incredibly Rewarding

The Mardi Himal trek was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life. The steep climbs and high altitudes pushed me to my limits, but the sense of accomplishment upon reaching each milestone was unparalleled. The diverse landscapes, from lush rhododendron forests to stark alpine meadows, kept the trek visually engaging every step of the way. And the views from the upper viewpoint, with the Annapurnas towering overhead, were simply breathtaking. This trek is no easy feat, but for those seeking an adventurous Himalayan experience, it is well worth the effort.
