About Trip

The Gosaikunda Lake Trek is a beautiful and spiritual trek in Nepal, located in the Langtang National Park. This trek takes you to the famous Gosaikunda Lake, a high-altitude alpine lake, which is considered sacred by both Hindus and Buddhists. It's an incredible adventure that offers mind blowing scenes of the Himalayas and gives trekkers the chance to experience Nepal's culture and nature up close.

Gosaikunda Lake has an important religious significance. According to Hindu mythology, the lake was created by Lord Shiva when he struck a rock with his trident to obtain water. This sacred water is believed to have healing powers, making the lake a pilgrimage site for many. Every year, thousands of pilgrims visit Gosaikunda during the full moon festival in August to bathe in its waters and seek blessings.

Gosaikunda Lake Trek Difficulty

The trek to Gosaikunda is moderate in difficulty, making it suitable for trekkers with some experience. The trail involves steep ascents, high altitudes, and unpredictable weather conditions. However, it’s achievable for most trekkers with a reasonable fitness level. It’s essential to acclimatize properly to avoid altitude sickness, especially since you’ll be trekking to an altitude of around 4,380 meters (14,370 feet) at Gosaikunda Lake.

Best Time for Gosaikunda Lake Trek

The best time to go on the Gosaikunda Lake Trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. During these times, the weather is generally clear, and the trekking paths are dry, offering the best views of the surrounding mountains. The winter months (December to February) can be too cold, and the monsoon season (June to August) can make trekking difficult due to the heavy rains.
