Overview

Although Helambu is located only 72km far from the capital city of Kathmandu, it is still an unspoiled area. Locals living in the region are called Hyolmos. Helambu Trek allows an opportunity to meet with these Hyolmos and learn their culture and traditions. We would recommend you to participate in Helambu trekking especially if you wish to experience Himalayan lifestyle and yet you do not have enough time to trek to far Himalayas. This is in fact the shortest trekking in Langtang region.Helambu region covers the area from lands located to the north of Taramarang to Gosaikunda Lake. Helambu also covers the lower slope of Jugal Mountain.

Experiences in Helambu Trek involves close-up views of Langtang Mountain, DorjeLakpa Mountain and Ganesh Mountain. You will observe culture of Hyolmos, visit local monasteries and walk through bamboo and rhododendron forest. Enjoy warm greetings from the friendly and shy locals living in beautiful villages. Shivapuri National Park is the best birdwatching site around Kathmandu.

Helambu Trek itinerary at Alaya Holidays continues for 10days. Sundarijal is the starting point of our trek. Helambu trekking route progresses through ethnic villages of Gulbhanjyang, Kutumsang and Sermathang. End point for Helambu Trek is at MelamchiPul Bazaar. You will be walking through forest for most part of the trek. Teahouse trek is possible in Helambu. Although months from Feb- May and Aug- Dec are considered best, Helambu Trek is possible throughout the year because of its favorable weather.

A trip with Alaya Holidays is a discovery: a warm people with breathtaking mountain views. A family team available, the day to lighten our hikes to better enjoy and at night we warm the heart playing and singing Nepalese music. An experience in Nepal is more than a discovery is an inner transformation... A people who share the most beautiful wealth: the pleasure of living either by walking or dancing .... in these beautiful mountains of the Himalaya . Namaste!
